Effect of fresh juice of Brassica oleracea Var. Capitata on isolated precontracted rat uterine horns

چکیده
Plan: The present study was undertaken to investigate the H2 receptor antagonistic action of fresh juice of Brassica oleracea var. capitata Methodology: Two sets of experiments consisted of recording the responses of the uterine horn preparations (precontracted with potassium chloride, KCl) to histamine (4.5; 9; 17.99; 35.99; 71.98 × 10 and 14.40× 10 mol/L, 2 minute each concentration) in absence and presence of SChlorpheniramine, ranitidine and BOCJ. Relaxant responses were measured as changes in isometric tension and converted into percentage of the reference maximum relaxation induced by standard dose of histamine for each group of experiment. Outcome: Our results indicate that histamine (EC50 = 19.05 ± 1.76 × 10 mol/L, p < 0.001) produces relaxation of potassium chloride precontracted isolated rat uterus. This effect of histamine is abolished by ranitidine, a selective H2 histamine receptor antagonist and BOCJ in a concentration dependent manner.

Effect of salicylic acid on cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. Capitata) grown under salinity stress. Sunaina and Narsingh Bahadur Singh*
The effects of salicylic acid (SA) on growth and metabolism of Brassica oleracea var. Capitata under salt stress was studied in a hydroponic culture. NaCl at 50 mM concentration and SA at 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5mM concentrations were used as treatments. The results showed that salt exhibited inhibitory effects on shoot and root length, fresh and dry weight, and RWC of the seedlings. NaCl at 50 mM co...
متن کاملEvaluation of Antioxidant Activities of Cabbage (Brassica oleracea L. var. capitata L.)
At present, it is widely-known that free radicals are the causes of illness such as cancers, coronary heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease and aging. One method of protection from free radical is the consumption of antioxidant-containing foods or herbs. Several analytical methods have been used for qualitative and quantitative determination of antioxidants. This project aimed to evaluate antioxid...

Benzoxazolin-2(3H)-one (BOA) is a well known allelochemical that is being explored for its herbicidal activity. However, not much is known about its effect on crop plants. The present study investigated the effect of BOA on germination and early growth of four vegetable crops viz. Pisum sativum L., Raphanus sativus L., Brassica oleracea L. var. botrytis and Brassica oleracea L. var. capitata. A...
متن کاملProtective role of exogenous SNP against heavy metal toxicity in Brassica oleracea (var. Capitata) Narsingh Bahadur Singh*, Himani Singh and Sunaina
The present study is focused on the importance of SNP, a NO donor, as Cd stress modulator on seedlings of cabbage. The exogenously applied Cd induced stress in cabbage seedlings to explore the protective role of SNP. 21-day-old seedlings were grown in Hoagland solution and Cd at 0.5 and 0.7 mM concentration with and without SNP. The biophysical and biochemical parameters were analyzed. Cd exhib...
متن کاملOintment of Brassica oleracea var. capitata Matures the Extracellular Matrix in Skin Wounds of Wistar Rats
Wound healing is a complex process that aims to restore damaged tissue. Phytotherapeutics, such as cabbage, Brassica oleracea var. capitata (Brassicaceae), and sunflower, Helianthus annuus L. (Asteraceae) oil, are used as wound healers. Five circular wounds, each 12 mm in diameter, were made in the dorsolateral region of each rat. The animals were divided into four groups: balsam (B. oleracea);...
